Many countries — and the airlines that board you — require your passport to stay valid for at least six months beyond your date of entry. Check only the expiry stamp and you can be turned away at the gate with a non-refundable ticket. This tool subtracts that buffer so you see the real Travel Death Date, not the printed one.
The Schengen area (19 of its members are in our list) requires at least 3 months of validity beyond your intended departure, plus a passport issued within the last 10 years. Your planned length of stay matters — a long trip pushes your Travel Death Date earlier than a weekend break.
